This lovely family had their annual session in October and I know it might seem untimely to post beautiful fall colors in the midst of mud season in Maine, but it’s 2020-2021 so I feel like anything goes and I can get away with it. Stay tuned for more old sessions because I am just coming up for air and catching up on life.

All of that is beside the point because check out this cute family of who I have been lucky enough since this one was a newborn! I am so grateful for my customers who keep coming back.

Remember those sleepless nights, and the days filled with toothless smiles?  Remember how it felt like you were in the thick of it, only to look back a year later and mourn how short that season of your life was?  I do.  My husband was deployed when my children were babes, and I was sure the doggy paddling would never end.  I know what it is to live in the blur.

Documenting these details ensures you can go back to that time, if only in your mind, and see all the beauty in those moments.

She told me nursing has been a struggle for her.  She didn’t expect it.  She already knew the ropes, she already nourished a child with her body, she knew how to do this. But here she was, struggling.  Because that is motherhood isn’t it?  So instinctively easy, yet an everyday struggle.

So when I posted asking for nursing models, she thought “maybe I should document the struggle too?”  I am so glad she did.  Because I have found that something magical happens when you look at yourself through someone else’s eyes. You don’t see the flaws.  You see the beauty in your life.

Last night she emailed me and said “(the pictures) made me feel better about breastfeeding.” Photos are so much more than something to hang on your wall, or to post on your social media.  They show you the reality of your life, without filters of the stress you are feeling, or the weight you are carrying on your shoulders.  THIS is why new moms need photos.  Life goes by in a blur when you are in survival mode, so why not capture these memories?

How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. – Winnie the Pooh
Let me introduce you to the beautiful O Family.  They have been friends to me since my husband joined the military years ago.  Since then, we have been friends through four babies, three states (four different times) three deployments, and many many family dinners.
Soon though, their journey moves on, and we will stay here in Maine.  I can’t even imagine how hard that will be.
But before then, we had to get in one more photo session.  I am so very glad we did.
I love you O Family, and I will miss you all the time.
