Starting in Hawaii six years ago, to Connecticut, I have been lucky enough to photograph this family every.single.year. Two newborn sessions, two beach sessions, two in-home sessions, one garden session and so much love.

This one is for the Mamas. This session seeks to show you as the pillar of your family, but also to document life from your perspective.  I strive to capture your family as you see them, in the most classic way possible- monochrome. 

What is it? Motherhood in Monochrome are family sessions, with all images delivered in true to life color, and Monochrome. Monochrome is a timeless way to document your family. These sessions include extra emphasis on Mom.

How many images will I get? Regular family sessions include 40+ images. Motherhood in Monochrome doubles your gallery.

What is the cost? Sessions are $695. This includes your digital gallery. All artwork is purchased after the fact. Find more info about artwork HERE.

I feel for you. Hard.

As if all these changes weren’t enough weight to carry, we now add the fear of sickness.

And the disappointment of your birth not looking the way you might have planned.

I wish I can help. I really do. I wish I could still be your photographer.

But here is the silver lining. You have a phone (I bet you do.)

So let’s talk about how you are going to still capture your priceless memories.

1. Find light. Face your baby towards a window and let that natural light illuminate their already wonderful glow. (Switch off your house lights BTW.)
2. Hold your phone flat. People often angle their phones instead of moving their body.
3. Try the same picture form different angles or closeness.
4. Remember, most phones today have different “modes.” Switch it to portrait if you can.
5. Try horizontal and vertical images. Turn your phone on it’s side.
6. Set your camera’s focus by tapping the image. Focus right on that sweet face.
7. Chase the light. Did I already say that? Because it is the most important.
8. Chill out. Just snap away. Don’t follow any of these rules if you don’t want. You won’t care about the resolution, you will care about the memory. Capture the snuggles, your baby’s hands and feet. Or lashes (my God the laser.) And you know what? I have a big fancy camera and the largest file on my computer is titled “phone pics” because as someone wiser than me said “the best camera is the one you have with you.”

Also, please remember this. Your baby will be just as precious and sweet at 2 months, 6 months, or 1 year. No matter when this is over.

It won’t be too late.

There are so many photos from this session that I want to share, but none of them even compare to this one. Because this mama, this light, these smiles! Moms, the truth is, I am in it for you. Because you deserve to look back at images like these, and remember the smell of that babies head, the warmth of that boys hug, and the fullness of your lap. You deserve this. I am here when you are ready.

I can still hear her giggles that lasted the.entire.session. ❤
