On this cold COLD day, I am thinking back to warmer Maine days.  End of summer at Lands End Beach.  Le sighhhhhh.
This session was just a model call, to get me used to photographing in a new location.  Little did I know that this family would be so drop-dead-gorgeous and incredibly easy to photograph.  I love every.single.picture. from this session, and was thrilled to offer them a huge gallery.  Mom was expecting a new addition to the family, and I think this was the perfect way to document their changing family.

I just love shooting at the beach. Lands End is really the perfect spot for quick, stress free family photos.

  • Gardens Aglow 2017 | Boothbay Botanical Gardens

I know, I know, I KNOW, it is past Christmas.  And I KNOW it is FREEZING COLD. But due to the weather we have had to reschedule our visit twice (thank you Boothbay Botanical Gardens for allowing tickets transfer at any time.) But guys, this place is magic.  If you are anywhere near Midcoast (Portland, Brunswick, Bath, Naples, Wisscasset) get your butts out there before the New Year!  The lights will be going until New Years eve, and you can purchase your tickets here:

Please excuse the shotty cell phone pic, but sometimes you have to put the camera down and enjoy the scene, amiright?!

“Ashley, you have to come see Amelia in her Christmas clothes, she has red sparkly shoes.”

“You had my at sparkly shoes, I am on my way.”  ***Grabs Camera***

Often my clients worry that there isn’t time, space, or enough perfection to plan a photoshoot.  But here is the truth.  We did photos of my friend’s sweet girl at 9am (because nap times,) and it took all of 15 minutes.  We pushed furniture, she played with her toys, read me her favorite Christmas book, and  we captured memories!  We captured the scratch-n-sniff Christmas book mom played with as a kid.  We captured her putting her snowmen to bed in the doll-crib that grandpa made 30 years ago.  We preserved the memory of that adorable sweater dress grandma picked out, and it was all completely stress free.  We documented her yelling “BELLYYYYYY” and lifting her dress and showing off her tummy.  It’s all about the memories.  Even though perfection never crossed our minds, I think we did all right.

  • Christmas, Snow Storms, and Homemade Hot Chocolate | Ashley Langtry Photography

We are snowed in, in Portland, Maine.  SNOWED. IN. We got a snow storm, followed by an ice storm, followed by a blizzard.  My yard is layered snow, ice, snow up to my knees.  The trees are white and SPARKLY.  I have never seen anything like it. All Christmas day I couldn’t help but think “THIS is what Christmas is supposed to look like.”

I tried something new and I need to share with you.  When I was in ski club at school, every week my aunt would pick me up and make me hot chocolate.  It was just the thing to warm me up and make me feel loved.  I wanted to make some special Christmas Cocoa for the kids to warm up after playing outside. I combined a few recipes (thank you Pinterest) and found CANDY IN A CUP.  Buddy the elf would approve.

This would be perfect for a party, or a special treat.

Let’s face it, it is cold in Maine and sometimes we just have to spoil ourselves to make it though these short days.

    Directions:

    1 cup heavy cream

    1 can condensed sweetened milk

    7 cups whole milk

1 package of Ghirardelli milk chocolate morsels

*Put in the crockpot on low until melted, warm, and delish.*
